Portabello Road,Harrods and Hyde Park

Saturday was Super 14 finals day so we were all up at 8am and ready for the big game. Go the Crusaders!!! We made our breakfast and watch the build up, the players ran on to the field and the fuse blew!! The TV and everything went off. We were beside ourselves. It seemed to take for ever for the sky box to come back on but it did and we were able to bask in Crusader Glory although there were times when we were a little nervous.
Andy wanted to have a quiet day so Garey and I headed off to Portobello Road to the antique markets. The markets are huge, antiques, food and new things and people everywhere. Many of you will find it hard to believe that Garey could not decide what he wanted to eat, he could have had anything, prawns, Creole, German sausage and bread, crepes, you name it and it was there but all to much for Garey. We walked from one end to the other (about 2 hours) and he still did not get lunch, too hard to choose!
We had quiet night at Andy’s flat and watch a movie.

Sunday 1st June the first day of Summer.
After some discussion we decided to go into town and play in the toy floor of Harrods. Heaps of fun. It is very interactive, some staff on roller shoes and others doing magic tricks. They have toys you can play with, (we had to hold Andy back as she really wanted a remote control car that she played with.) The food hall at Harrods is amazing too. Caviar to chocolate you can buy it all at a cost.
When we left Harrods we wandered down to Hyde Park to look at the new NZ war memorial. Although it has been a little controversial we were impressed. Each or the tall metal crosses tells a story of New Zealand and the solders journey.
We caught the train back to the Putney for some lunch and back to the flat to get organised to move on. We had to leave at 4.30 to get train to Heathrow for the beginning of our trip with Gill and Pete. In the entire terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport we met up with them with out even planning to. Well done I say.
